Fish the Beara

  Shore fishing

The above map shows 23 recognised shore fishing marks on the Beara peninsula, in truth there are many more, some already discovered but many more waiting to be found.
Most of the shore fishing on the Beara is from rocks but no need to break out the mountain gear as the majority of these are accesible requiring only a short walk to a stepped or flattened rock formation providing a good and safe platform to fish from. Another interesting feature of the Beara are the depths and it is not unusual to be fishing in thirty feet ( 10 metres ) of water only a medium cast out.
We have found that the deep water also gives the added advantage of turning day into night and while many people enjoy their night fishing it is not vital and our biggest rays, huss and conger have come during daylight hours.
Being a peninsula there is little danger of valuable fishing time being lost to the weather as whichever way the wind is blowing it is always possible to get shelter.
